Healthy meals do not need to be expensive or hard to prepare. This page will teach you simple ways to plan, prepare and store your food items.
Here are some quick tips for keeping meal simple:
- Cook dishes with 5 ingredients or less
- Try to cook enough of each dish for more than 1 day (Hint: Leftovers make a great lunch for the next day)
- Buy ingredients that can be used in multiple recipes (i.e. beans, canned tomato sauce, pasta, rice, potatoes, chicken, ground beef, or other proteins)
- Buy in bulk- buying dry goods or meat in bulk will save you money. Freeze your meat in separate containers so you can defrost it when you need it.
- Freeze bread, butter, sauces, or other products so that they last longer.

Below are some examples of foods you might get from a food pantry
Remember every pantry is different so these foods may not be what you see at your local pantry.
