Healthy Eating

Choosing health foods does not have to be expensive.

A healthy diet is really about eating foods that are nutrient dense and have a healthy balance of fat, protein, and carbohydrates. It is best to eat whole foods (i.e. fruits and vegetables, meats, whole grain) whenever possible because these foods tend to have more nutrients.

Processed and calorie dense foods can make you feel full in the moment but do not have all of the nutrients that your body needs. Additionally processed or calorie dense foods like burgers, fries, cookies, and chips tend to undergo processing that increases the fat, sugar, or salt content of the food.

High fat, cholesterol, and salt intake can lead to chronic health conditions like high blood pressure and cardiovascular (heart) disease.

High sugar intake can lead to diabetes, weight gain, and other health issues.
